Trails:
The Loop trails are wide and well marked. If there is a question of safety with snow conditions as determined by the Trail Boss, there are alternative open out and back trails which may be used.

There will be trails from 4-6 miles and the open can be up to a 13 mile run. Each year, these runs will vary.

Just Want to Watch?

If you have never experienced a sled dog race, it is great fun to watch and to be involved in. You can feel the energy and excitement as they race in to the finish line.

This 3 day event is a free for spectators. Please make sure to dress appropriately for the cold outdoors and don't forget your camera! There are areas along the trail that you can get to by car but please remember not to distract the dogs as they race.

Each race starts at the Border Riders Club House in Jackman, Maine. While waiting for a team to take off or return, this is great place to warm up with some hot cocoa, socialize with other spectators or drivers and get a bite to eat.

Each race can vary: a race can run from 4 to 14 miles, taking the driver and their dogs, 16 to 45 minutes to complete. The race day begins at approximately 9 a.m. and ends around 4 p.m. Between each race, feel free to talk to some of the teams.

Dog Sleds
Open Drivers, like this one, will enjoy a new loop course this year. Many changes have been made to the course including straightening some of the challenging corners.
